There are many self publishing platforms out there that allow people to publish their work. These platforms range from free to paid options. There are some great free options out there that don’t require any kind of registration or payment. Here are some of my favourites:
Blurb
A platform where you can create beautiful books online without having to print them first. You can upload your own images and text, and then choose between hardcover, paperback, and e-book formats.
Kobo
One of the biggest self publishing platforms, and it’s free to upload your book on there. They do however take 70% of your royalties if your book is priced over $2.99 in the US.
Lulu
Lulu offers both free and paid plans. Their free plan allows you to make books in paperback, hardcover, and e-book format. Paid plans start at $15 per month.
Smashwords
Smashwords is a platform that allows authors to upload their book files directly to their website. Authors can sell their books through their website, or they can opt to have their books distributed through Amazon’s Kindle Direct program.
Draft2Digital
One of the best free self publishing platforms where you can upload your text and cover image and it’ll format and create an ebook for free. It can be used as a distributor to get your books onto loads of platforms, and also to create universal book links too.
Reedsy
Reedsy is an outsourcing platform that helps you to find professional editors, formatters, cover designers and more.
Ingram Sparks
Ingram sparks is a fantastic book distribution platform. In fact they boast to be the worlds largest book distributor. They distribute to Kobo, Apple Books, Nook and Amazon, as well as 39,000 libraries.
